Files consist of correspondence, notes, and reports which document the Ford Foundation's expansion into an international philanthropic organization. The records are arranged according to the five program areas identified by the Foundation's seminal Study Committee, 1950, including the Establishment of Peace; the Strengthening of Democracy; the Strengthening of the Economy; Education in a Democratic Society; and Individual Behavior and Human Relations. The files also contain administrative files, among which are materials relating to the congressional investigations of the 1950s by the Cox and Reece committees concerning private philanthropic organizations and the formal relationship between the Ford Foundation and the Ford Motor Company, 1947-1956.
